The Sambar was originally built by David Nichols for “The Last Samaurai” 2003. The Sambar is a type of delivery truck widely used in Japan, it has a very narrow wheelbase which is perfect for tight alley ways that are common both in Japan and inner city Sydney. The engine is a very quiet 700cc petrol, one of its advatages over a quad bike is the fact that you can accomodate on top of the driver not only the focus puller and operator but also the director and in this case the VFX supervisor.
